Research Agenda

Dr. Gakis' research agenda in the Center for Applied Optimization includes four main issues:
 
  • Research on the Multi-Trip Vehicle Routing Problem: a variation of the problem to take into account CO2 emissions.

  • Extreme value analysis for the estimation of surge elevation in studying hurricanes and climate change.

  • Research on multi-player/multi-contestant race-type games that includes the definition of appropriate probability law(s) and parameter estimation based on game data. The purpose is to study betting scheme and identify possible fraudulent activity.

  • The investigation of the effects of Information and Communication Technologies in work organization.

 

Additional research interests include renewable (mainly solar) energy problems and "smart-city" problems.
